Game Changer!

This harness is wonderful as it does not need to be removed for the dog to urinate. Game changer! Only caution is that the weight outlined was not correct for my dog. He required a smaller size to fit well and he was not on the border of the weight requirements. Something to consider. Otherwise, so grateful for this product while my big guy recovers from IVDD.

Our dog Roxy broke her back leg. Our vet fitted her with a Help em Up harness. Since she came home, we have tried several other assistance devices but keep coming back to the Help em Up. It provides the best stability of any of the products we tried.

We were at a loss how to help our Great Pyr following his second knee surgery. Our vet recommended this product, allowing us to help get our boy up from a “Sit” position – it was wonderful, and really did improve his recovery. Later we found that a strap on the chest strap had torn – we contacted the company, and found that there is a one-year warranty on the product. They quickly sent a replacement. Kudos to a company that has a great product AND honors the warranty!

I purchased this harness for my 13 year old Redbone Coonhound mix. His hips are going & he has neurological issues, so he’s losing control of his back legs & paws. The harness is a huge help with getting him in & out of the car, straightening his stance and getting him up & down the stairs to the back yard (which he still is determined to use). Easy to adjust and to take on & off. He seems completely comfortable in it. Question though, the straps that come between his back legs ride up the middle, which can be a problem when he has to poop. Have I adjusted something incorrectly? May just be that he has a skinny butt. :-)

We recently purchased this harness to assist our English Setter who has hip dysplasia. It is a little intimidating at first with all the straps and buckles, but once we figured everything out, it was great. Worst case scenario, the pet can be carried by its harness. It helps him to stand and can take most, or all the weight off his hind legs. He adapted to the feel quickly and does not seem bothered by it at all. On his bad days, we use it to lift him into the car or onto our bed. Would definitely purchase again.

Extremely thoughtfully designed and well made. Our 13 y/o 50-lb English Shepherd he’d a sudden episode of vestibular syndrome. She was comfortable and safe in her harness. Easy on and off. It also became an important tool in her home physical therapy.

We just picked our Major from extensive back surgery. He is a 90lb+ dog and this harness made the transition from the hospital/car/home ( up 2 sets of stairs), so much easier for us and Major. Can’t imagine how difficult this process would have been without it.

24 hour update: Major had to relieve himself in our 90 x 90 dog run at 2am w snow/ice everywhere. There is no way he nor me could of managed that without our new harness

My vet recommended this product to me. My almost 17-year old large breed dog is having trouble getting up in the morning and going up and down the few steps to leave our house. He fell twice and inured himself, even though we tried to assist him up and down the steps. This product has been fabulous. Now we easily assist him up and down the steps. He senses that, and he has less anxiety about steps. No new falls. I’d highly recommend this product.

I wanted to leave a review because I just found myself recommending this harness to a friend. I have since lost the dog I purchased this for, he was a Doberman (33″ at the withers!) who ended up losing his back end to lumbosacral spinal stenosis (the nerves that make the back legs move started to fail). He was a huge dog and I am a tiny woman, and we lived in a 2 story house with old, narrow stairs. I bought the harness proactively, foreseeing trouble on the horizon. I’m so grateful I did. We had to help him down the stairs and having the handle on his pelvis really helped. I could hold him and the railing at the same time and we did well for months. My then fiance one night took a bad spill down the stairs with the dog and I feared we would have to leave him in the living room to sleep downstairs. I should have given into that, but didn’t want him to be alone. One morning soon after the dog refused to go down the stairs because he had no confidence that he wouldn’t fall. I really felt for him. By then we had been using this harness daily for walks and lifting support, but this was the real test I had bought the thing for: we were stuck upstairs and I could not carry this dog down. Enter the shoulder strap, which basically turned him into a 4-legged duffel bag. I’m lucky he trusted me and wasn’t a squirmy dog. I needed both feet for the stairs and both hands for the walls and my poor old dog dangled nervously from the shoulder strap. It was a tense few minutes but we got down safe without any mishaps and I could have cried I was so grateful to have had this thing on hand when I needed it. When we finally had to put the dog down I gave the harness away, but I will probably own one for every dog we have as they enter seniorhood. As long as the quality of this product never degrades, they will have a lifelong customer in me. I cannot recommend this product enough. Thank you, Helpemup Harness, you guys really did me a solid in the making of this product.

My dog is not yet in need but I can see the signs as he ages and want to be prepared. I have it fitted for him and am ready should I need to use it to help him.

I have a 12 year old German Sheppard that needed to get to the vet. Unfortunately his back legs were not allowing him to get into the car. I tried a couple of other solutions including ramps with no luck. I was able to get this harness shipped overnight and was able to try it out on him the night before the appointment so he would get used to it. The next morning I was able to get him hoisted in the car on the first attempt. At 120 pounds that was was quite an accomplishment. My vet had positive comments about the harness and that it even helped them with the exam.
I don’t think I would have been able to get him to the vet without this harness. Thanks again.

Question
Kait –
Is there a special way to wash the harness?

Thank you for reaching out to us.
We do not recommend the use of bleach or other harsh detergents but mild soaps work great. Urine odor can be a problem so try to clean regularly. White vinegar and water in a 1 to 3 ratio works pretty well to cut the smell. There are also commercial cleaners available that can help to cut odor.

This product is truly amazing. It’s giving us the tool we need to help our Anna on her daily walks. It’s also helping us get her into brand new set of wheels. We’re hoping that the combination of both will give Anna a new lease on life – extend her life so she can do what she loves – WALKS!!! and MORE WALKS!!!!

AMAZING!
Just wanted to share how great this has been for our 12.5 year old mixed breed with hip dysplasia and arthritis. It was a last ditch effort to help keep him mobile and it has been wonderful for him. (I had even inquired about the return policy because I wasn’t sure he was going to make it until we got the item) He’s been so happy too, complete with a wagging tail that we hadn’t seen in a few weeks. It has been well worth the price tag and I would highly recommend.
