K9 Carts Veterinary Scholarship
For decades, K9 Carts has been proud to offer support to up and coming veterinary students through our scholarship program. Recently, K9 Carts joined the Paw Prosper family to help further their mission of helping pets stay healthy, recover quickly and age gracefully.
We are excited to announce that the K9 Carts Scholarship program will continue under Paw Prosper. There will now be two separate scholarships: The Paw Prosper Student of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship and the Paw Prosper Continuing Education Scholarship.
Applications are now closed for 2025.
We’re thrilled to announce the 2025 recipients of the Paw Prosper Student of Veterinary Medicine and Continuing Education Scholarships! This year, we were so inspired by the many amazing applications that we have chosen two recipients in Veterinary Medicine.
Thank you to everyone who applied, and congratulations to this year’s honorees!
STUDENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINE SCHOLARSHIP
“As I worked my way from kennels to diagnostics and assisting, I found
the same truth repeated over and over. Animals heal best when people understand their needs and when they are treated as individuals, not cases or conditions.”
“I want to be a veterinarian who sees the whole picture, not just symptoms. Someone who recognizes that behind every patient is a story, a bond, and a family relying on our care. I want to show up for rural communities like the one I grew up in, where animals are not just pets, but partners. I want to bring not only clinical knowledge, but compassion that honors the relationships people have
with their animals.“
Lainey Caswell, 4th Year Biochemistry & Veterinary Sciences Major, University of Arizona

STUDENT OF VETERINARY MEDICINE SCHOLARSHIP
“What began as an opportunity to help animals in need evolved into a
profound lesson in compassion, empathy, and the unbreakable bond between people and their pets. Through this experience, I was able to see first-hand that the human-animal bond exists across all walks of life and is often the strongest where there is little else to hold onto. My time with the Street Dog Coalition shaped not only how I see the relationship between people and animals but also the kind of veterinarian I aspire to be, one who is committed to expanding access to care and delivering compassionate, high-quality care to all. “
Roberta Bailey, 4th Year DVM Candidate, Western University
CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
“In traditional practice, I was constantly reacting—putting out fires, chasing schedules, pushing through exhaustion. Now, I work proactively. I look at the whole patient, not just the problem. I’ve traded 30-minute consults for meaningful conversations and 90 minute assessments. I prioritize mobility, prevention, and quality of life for my patients and understanding and empathy for my clients. I use therapeutic exercise, PEMF and laser as primary tools to help patients move and feel better. Most importantly, I’ve reconnected with why I became a veterinarian in the first place: to help animals live more comfortable lives—and to do it with intention, and compassion while prioritizing client
understanding.“
